Prayer

We wait in prayer. So deep is our longing for your presence in our lives. We wait, that we can learn to practice this presence. We wait, anticipating the moment that is the fullness, the recognition, that everything around us and in us is you. We realize any turmoil we see and feel masks your presence, and in moments of silence and peace we still struggle to remain in a state of expectancy and faith. So we ask for your help to let go of our fears and open ourselves to the beauty and truth of creation. We understand that we must participate in this creation. We understand our effort is essential to complete the process of transformation we seek. We open our eyes to see. We are here to listen and sit with an open heart, an open mind, and an open body, ready to receive, to understand, and experience your presence. Amen.

Message

This is the beginning of a new part of our journey. It’s a journey where we understand that we’ve been set apart from other people, not in a way that means that we can’t have friends or that we can’t be engaged in the world in taking care of ourselves or taking care of others, but set apart in the knowing that we are both human beings, and that we carry within us a Divine essence and a Divine presence that is available to us if we ask. We come to this space opening ourselves, accepting ourselves, and loving ourselves as a path toward opening ourselves to others, accepting others, and loving others.

There are new ways for us to understand what it means to be of help to someone else, where we will learn to help hold that person in freedom, and at the same time, witness who they are and connect with that part of their essence, acknowledge that part of them that is also Divine. It’s not a time to fear our human ways of being and doing things. It’s not a time to fear who we are, but to seek to understand and know. Know that all the things that we bring to this moment, we bring like an offering to each other, to God, and we seek to be a friend, a friend of each other, a friend of God and Christ in ways that move inside of us that create movement toward growth in self-esteem and self-worth; that we learn to heal and accept healing from each other—not that we cure illnesses or change the symptoms of something manifesting in our body—but to learn how to engage in our spirituality in the world.

Simply knowing that we are spiritual beings. Simply knowing that having awareness can change us, change the situations we find ourselves in, that can change our reaction to other people or events, or even change the patterns or scripts that we tell ourselves, or the fears that are unconscious—all of these become a part of our spiritual life in a way that has no judgment. It simply has a curiosity, trying to see who we are as human beings, how we can be in each moment of our lives, how we can find our purpose, not just in a larger view, but also in the moment-to-moment encounters we have. We can learn that the world, the universe, that God speaks to us. God speaks to us in the world around us.

Our existence in this earth is filled with beauty. It is filled with opportunity, and at the same time it is filled with suffering, and it is filled with ignorance. And one form of ignorance that we hope to change is our own lack of knowledge about what it means to be a spiritual human being; that we can learn to be the fullness of who we are as human beings; that we can learn in every moment the many miraculous was that God is present. And for us, there are so many ways that presence is revealed to us and given to us in Jesus Christ.

Don’t be swayed by public opposition to who you are. Don’t be swayed by those who say, “That’s a hard path.” And don’t be swayed by your own doubt. It is in sharing with each other, expressing our own fears, and expressing our anxiety, in expressing any regret that we might have, that we learn, that we make a choice to grow into the fullness of our purpose and our relationship to God. We will learn to understand together that there is so much perfection in the diversity in the world. We will learn that there are so many things that seem to be hurtful or painful or unjust and we will remember that the picture that we see is so incomplete that it takes an effort on our part to look out in a different direction, to look out in the things that surround us, to look into each other’s hearts and to look into our own heart to learn. Our experiences become like wisdom that is added to our being. We learn the difference between wisdom and knowledge, and we learn how to apply that wisdom.

We understand that the things revealed to us in these sessions together are for us first. We learn to explore. And in our exploration, more is revealed. We’ll learn that everyone present is making a contribution if they speak or not. We’ll learn that holding this presence is a way of accepting and witnessing human life, and it is this precious life that is the foundation for all those things that we consider moral and just.

As I speak to you, you see and hear the words come through me. But I am like a channel of blessings to you, and that is the intention that it is my prayer and our prayer that I can speak to you through Christ, understanding the imperfection that exists within perfection, understanding that we learn together, understanding that we have freedom to choose our words and our actions, understanding that there is a part of us that is unseen, and that sometimes those words and cautions burst out of us in ways that seem sideways and difficult and angry, and we learn to hold that within this group in ways that reveal the depth of our own experience, that reveals the depth within us from a long line of experiences back to our childhood and beyond. We learn to trust each other, to hold these experiences without judgment. We learn the things we need to do to protect ourselves and have boundaries. We learn ways to be responsible, to respond to each other with love, to look at each other through the lens of love and kindness. To follow, however imperfectly, a path that has been set before us through the example of Jesus. We are here to know and receive the prayers of those that have come before us to help us on our path, to know that they are also a loving presence around us and even inside of us. We are here to learn the sacred agreements that we have with ourselves that call to that best part of us, to that essence that is Divine, that moves us toward the highest good, not just for ourselves, but for the world.

In coming on this journey, we are making a commitment to ourselves and to the expression of the Divine within us. We will learn to speak to that Divine spark in prayer, that is like a conversation, that is heard not just by those present, also heard by a Divine presence. I am grateful that you are here. I am grateful for what I am going to learn from you, and from the revelation of God that is in Jesus, the Christ. I ask that I be a channel of blessings. That when I hear a request, whether I be going in or coming out, that it be in alignment with Divine law, and that it be aligned with the invitation to be holy, and to recognize the sacred manifest in us and around us. Amen.
